Last day

May 23, 2023     It is the final and last day of senior project. Camila and I have put a lot of work into this documentary and we now have the final product. We worked on doing our voice overs today which was exciting and putting it in gave the personal touch of what we thought as the creators. Our product has came out so well and we have learned so much throughout this project. I am really happy I chose to do this project and to learn and create what we created. It took a lot of time and effort but the final product really shows everything we did and learned. The experiences that I had are priceless and I am going to forever carry on everything that I did. It was really important to learn about the sustainable fashion industry and to be in adult like situations and professional settings. I walk away on the last day with a new mindset and adventures behind me. Also with an incredible 20 minute documentary that we made to show the world what we did these past two weeks of senior projec

Second to last day

May 22, 2023     On the second to last day of senior project it was Camila and I’s time to get everything completely done. Today was the day we finalized our documentary by doing all of the final editing, and creating the scripts for our voice overs. Today and tomorrow are the most crucial days because we want to go over everything to make sure that our product looks ready to go. It is really important that we go over every detail and keep making small little details. This is what we did today, we sat on our computers and rewatched over and over to check for mistakes. Also we made sure to fill out our time sheets and start working on our poster board to present at express fest. Today was a really busy day as we wanted to make sure everything was perfect.  Hours today: 10 Hours in total: 88.5

Weekly reflection #2

May 21st, 2023      What a week it has been. To introduce you to this week I will give you a little rundown. We started this week by traveling from across the country from LA all the back to Boston. Camila and I took a red eye which kind of messed up our sleep schedule. The prior week we had learned been really busy so the both of us were ready to relax and focus on putting the documentary together. Besides starting our week with traveling it was time for us to get creative and get ideas for what we wanted to do. We had a lot of great content from the prior week from our interviews and filming different shots of LA.      This week we accomplished a lot. We finished the documentary in total which is amazing and really exciting. I learned this week how to make videos pleasing to the ears and eyes. To make the documentary engaging you have to crop all of the videos to edit out parts of the interview where the person talking maybe paused or said um. Cropping the interviews took a lot of t

Rainy day editing

May 20, 2023      Yet another day of editing and again it was very strenuous. Besides starting the day off with breakfast we started off with another morning editing session. To make this one as productive as possible we made sure to work together to get it done right. So we had about 13 minutes left of pure editing the Kyle interview. We decided to watch it together, make the cuts and keep making sure it flowed. It took a lot of time to edit this interview since he talks a lot and we want to make sure to keep the good content, but we also want to cut out all the parts where he repeated himself or said um. Cutting these out just makes the interview cleaner and also reduces the time. After this editing session we took a break since we had put a lot of time into it. We decided to go to New London quick and grab some food. Then we came back and started editing again. For the second session of the day we still had to finish the Kyle interview and which we did finish editing it in the seco

Continued editing

May 19th 2023      It was another prolonged day with a lot of editing. We started the day with yet another breakfast that we made at home and then wanted to get started right away on editing. We still have a lot of work to do and we want to make sure we get it all done on time, while also being a quality project. So we started our morning with a lot of editing, we were cutting clips on our interview with Kyle to make it more concise and flowy. We kept editing Kyles interview while also multitasking and considering what we want for the intro music. Therefore we looked on YouTube for some inspiration and looked for some good intro songs. We haven’t decided yet but we now have the outro song and some final contenders for the intro. The documentary is looking very good and very well put together and both of us are really happy with how it looks so far. After a long edit session we took a break and went and played some tennis. It was nice to be outside and enjoy the nice weather. Then we c

Day 12

May 18th, 2023     Another great day with a lot of productivity. Today we started the morning by eating a bagel and eggs to get a nice breakfast. Then we decided today our plan was to edit in the morning and at night. For the morning session we kept editing the main interview videos. We both had to go over all of the interview videos to cut them to be a little bit shorter since it was a lot of talking. After this Camila and I took a break and we went to Concord to run some errands, then we wanted to get some exercise so we headed to the tennis courts. We got some energy out and played some tennis. Then we headed back to the house and started editing more. It took us a long time and we also wanted to put a lot of time into it to make it look really good as well. The day ended with some dinner and some more editing and research. We then headed to be to get some rest for the next day! Hours today: 8 Hours in total: 48.5

Editing

May 17th 2023     Today was a sufficient day of editing. Camila and I woke up up made some breakfast and then did some organizing and laundry. After we did some chores we proceeded to keep editing which was very fun and we made sure to be very tedious with every part as we want it to be excellent. We went through all the videos started putting them in, listening to the audios and seeing what fits together. After this we took a break made some dinner. We had some taco bowls which was really tasty. Then we got right back to editing for the rest of the night. And right before bed we watched a movie! Hours today: 7 3 in morning, 4 in afternoon  Hours in total:  40.5

Travel day and editing

May 16th 2023     It was a very prolonged travel day as we had taken the red eye back from LA yesterday at 9:45pm. Camila and I got back to her house around 9am after the extended travel from the airport to bus to car. We arrived relieved and happy to try to catch some sleep after a restless night. Once I got some much needed rest, we made some lunch and then grabbed our computers to go over all of the footage. We wanted to go over everything that we filmed to see what we can use and what will be good to put into the documentary. I was really excited to see all of the videos and see everything that we got videos of. We are going to continue keep editing for the rest of the week and keep culminating this project. Today was a really long tiring day but we made sure to edit for a while after we rested to get some progress. After the editing we made dinner and then proceeded to watch a movie!  Hours today: 4 Hours a in total: 33.5

Last day in LA/ travel day

May 15th 2023 Day 8     It is officially the last day of our LA excursion and here is how we spent it. We first went our day by grabbing some breakfast at Alfreds which is this coffee shop that is close to my house. We chilled and ate and discussed what we wanted to accomplish for the day. In which we decided to get some exercise so we went to play tennis for almost an hour and a half. It was so much fun to be outside and get a sweat in, Camila and I have a lot of fun playing against each other. After this we decided to go to Venice and walk around on Abbot Kinney which is this road with a lot of shops. We wanted to find some more vintage shops to take some more videos for our documentary. It was a success and we got some more footage. We have around 110 videos worth of footage and we are planning to the documentary to be around 30-40 minutes, so we feel like we succeeded. It was an amazing week and I am really sad to leave especially since we learned so much and got to explore. Our

First week reflection

May 14 Day 7     Wow, it has been an incredible week. Camila and I have done so many things each day and I am so satisfied the way our trip ended up. I have learned so much and each day we were very eager to learn. I learned a lot about the fashion industry from multiple different people and most definitely explored LA. Everyday we went to different parts, went to different thrift stores, and met different people. I thought it was really important for our project that did everything we did. We got so many good videos of the beautiful parts of LA. From Santa Monica and the ocean all the way to Downtown we went to pretty much everywhere. Also not only did we see everything we tasted many different foods and explored the sustainable options of clothing. It wasn’t only all about the fashion and clothing but it was also a cultural experience that pushed us to learn the city.      On the note of the project, we fulfilled everything that we were looking for. The people we met with were perf

Interview with Drew House

May 13th 7:30pm       Another day another interview for Camila and I. Today we woke up and had our interview at 11am, so we decided to again go get some coffee to start our morning. After that we got ready to go to the meeting, and in the car prepared some questions. Once we got to the cafe S.O.L which means strings of light, we met with Kyle Svendsen who is the director of product  of Drew House. Kyle has been in the fashion industry for many years and has worked previously with Jermey Scott, and American Apparel. He has had a lot of experience and was the perfect person for our documentary. Drew House is Justin Biebers company there clothing consists of shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, and anything else they feel like making.  Kyle gave us his insight on sustainability in the industry overall, and also within Drew House. Kyle provided us with so much new information and really changed our perspectives on our documentary. His experience really shows throughout the videos that we too

Rest and research

May 12th 2023 Day 5 8:30pm      The day consisted of much less activities and more rest. We have had two very very busy days and today was a day were we got some much needed rest. Camila and I slept in a little bit and were sorta lazy, but then we got up and got our day going. We headed over to the Pacific Palisades which is an area that has some coffee shops and was a quick drive. Once we got there we grabbed some food, checked out some stores and filmed some more content. Then we went to the beach and got some much needed vitamin D, this provided us a lot of time to keep thinking about the documentary. The documentary and what it entails is most definitely extremely vital to the both of us, but we also don’t want to miss out on experiencing LA and what the city offers. We have been making sure to enjoy every moment and cherish every experience. We are so lucky to be here and grateful to experience an amazing city. It has only been three days and we have already had so much fun. I c

Day 4

May 11 2023, 6:30pm         Today was the day we met with Santiago Marcos who is our mentor. We got up around 8am and went and walked to grab some coffee to start our day. We had our meeting at 1pm, so we had some time before to relax and draft some questions that we were curious about to ask. Then we headed over to our meeting to a restaurant/cafe called Zinc. At Zinc we sat down and got to talk to Santiago about our project, what it entails and how we can make it the best. Camila and I talked a lot about our ideas and what we have been thinking it should look like. Santiago gave us a lot of really great advice and gave us some documentary recommendations to watch to get some creative ideas from. He also gave us a lot of little tips for the audio, soundtrack and how to draw the audience into the documentary. It provided us a lot of insight and a lot of inspiration for our documentary. Our meeting was very exciting and helpful for our project. Furthermore, after our meeting for the r

Hustling in the city

Day 3 of senior project, May 10th, 2023       Wow, I had the most busy day of my life and I am happy to safe I feel like I accomplished a lot. After some rest from the long travel day, today was the day we had planned to meet for our first interview. Now this could seem like one thing for the whole day but yet this isn’t true. Our day was filled to the brim with endless activities that helped us broaden our perspective on sustainable fashion and even just the hustle of Los Angeles.      To start our day Camila and I headed to grab some coffee to wake us up after the long travel day before. At 12pm we had our meeting in a different part of Los Angeles with a woman who owned her own sustainable fashion brand. Between our coffee and meeting we had some time to drive around and get excited for the next few days. Then as we headed over to the meeting we learned about navigating the bustling city and made sure to provide plenty of time for our ride over. When we made it over we were greete

Arriving in Los Angeles

May 9th 2023    Today was the day of travel and the start to me and Camila’s week in LA. I woke up at 5:45am to go to the airport to catch my 6 hour flight.  It was a very long travel day but very exciting and once I landed I was ready to start the project. I found Camila and our adventure started! The main objective for today was to create our questions for our interview/ studio tour tomorrow. We want to make sure we get a lot of footage tomorrow and that our interview is very well thought out. After creating our interview questions we decided to get some rest for our big day tomorrow. We got 2 hours total.

Preparing for departure

Today began the first day of an exciting two weeks! I fly out tomorrow from Boston and will be on a six hour flight to Los Angeles. Today, I packed my bags and started communicating with people that we are planning on interviewing. I also started thinking of places and ideas that I want to film and how I want it to all turn out. My ideas of the product are ever changing and I am very excited to fly out tomorrow. Today was a day filled with preparation and communication to prepare for a week in LA where I will be learning film. It was crucial today to make sure that I had all the materials needed to make sure I am well equipped for the trip. I am really excited for tomorrow where I will be making the 6 hour trip and continue to brainstorm some film ideas.
