First week reflection

 May 14 Day 7

Wow, it has been an incredible week. Camila and I have done so many things each day and I am so satisfied the way our trip ended up. I have learned so much and each day we were very eager to learn. I learned a lot about the fashion industry from multiple different people and most definitely explored LA. Everyday we went to different parts, went to different thrift stores, and met different people. I thought it was really important for our project that did everything we did. We got so many good videos of the beautiful parts of LA. From Santa Monica and the ocean all the way to Downtown we went to pretty much everywhere. Also not only did we see everything we tasted many different foods and explored the sustainable options of clothing. It wasn’t only all about the fashion and clothing but it was also a cultural experience that pushed us to learn the city.

On the note of the project, we fulfilled everything that we were looking for. The people we met with were perfect for our documentary. They gave us a great perspective on the fashion industry. They told us all about it their experience and all about sustainability. Camila and I had great knowledge before which we were lucky to have,. But after the interviews we learned how sustainability plays a role in the industry and why its important. Each person goes really in-depth in our interviews and you will see in the documentary how well each person knows a lot of information. Camila and I learned how important it is to purchase sustainable fashion and also how it is in the industry currently. We also learned a lot about product sourcing and manufacturing which showed us the fashion industry. Apart from what we learned we also went to the beach, exercised, ate good food, and explored California. And most importantly we went in person to different thrift stores to scope out the sustainability. It was a blast.

Lastly this week has taught me a lot about sustainable fashion. I have learned that it is actually super easy to participate in and seems to be pretty well incorporated into the business. Also our mentor really helped us with the production of the documentary with some tips on filming and editing. It is important for these to be considered when we develop everything next week. I am sad to be heading back to New Hampshire tomorrow, as I had a really great time exploring LA and being on the west coast. The city gave us a fresh perspective and made us realize that we want to move here someday. Personally, I love it here so much as there are so many creative and cool people that inspire me. The two designers that we met with taught me a lot and they both brought different perspectives to the table from a smaller scale company to a larger scale company. I feel like I have learned so much information and I also had fun! Can’t wait for next week!

Day 4

May 11 2023, 6:30pm         Today was the day we met with Santiago Marcos who is our mentor. We got up around 8am and went and walked to grab some coffee to start our day. We had our meeting at 1pm, so we had some time before to relax and draft some questions that we were curious about to ask. Then we headed over to our meeting to a restaurant/cafe called Zinc. At Zinc we sat down and got to talk to Santiago about our project, what it entails and how we can make it the best. Camila and I talked a lot about our ideas and what we have been thinking it should look like. Santiago gave us a lot of really great advice and gave us some documentary recommendations to watch to get some creative ideas from. He also gave us a lot of little tips for the audio, soundtrack and how to draw the audience into the documentary. It provided us a lot of insight and a lot of inspiration for our documentary. Our meeting was very exciting and helpful for our project. Furthermore...

Last day

May 23, 2023     It is the final and last day of senior project. Camila and I have put a lot of work into this documentary and we now have the final product. We worked on doing our voice overs today which was exciting and putting it in gave the personal touch of what we thought as the creators. Our product has came out so well and we have learned so much throughout this project. I am really happy I chose to do this project and to learn and create what we created. It took a lot of time and effort but the final product really shows everything we did and learned. The experiences that I had are priceless and I am going to forever carry on everything that I did. It was really important to learn about the sustainable fashion industry and to be in adult like situations and professional settings. I walk away on the last day with a new mindset and adventures behind me. Also with an incredible 20 minute documentary that we made to show the world what we did these past two weeks of...

Rainy day editing

May 20, 2023      Yet another day of editing and again it was very strenuous. Besides starting the day off with breakfast we started off with another morning editing session. To make this one as productive as possible we made sure to work together to get it done right. So we had about 13 minutes left of pure editing the Kyle interview. We decided to watch it together, make the cuts and keep making sure it flowed. It took a lot of time to edit this interview since he talks a lot and we want to make sure to keep the good content, but we also want to cut out all the parts where he repeated himself or said um. Cutting these out just makes the interview cleaner and also reduces the time. After this editing session we took a break since we had put a lot of time into it. We decided to go to New London quick and grab some food. Then we came back and started editing again. For the second session of the day we still had to finish the Kyle interview and which we did finish edi...
