Weekly reflection #2

 May 21st, 2023

What a week it has been. To introduce you to this week I will give you a little rundown. We started this week by traveling from across the country from LA all the back to Boston. Camila and I took a red eye which kind of messed up our sleep schedule. The prior week we had learned been really busy so the both of us were ready to relax and focus on putting the documentary together. Besides starting our week with traveling it was time for us to get creative and get ideas for what we wanted to do. We had a lot of great content from the prior week from our interviews and filming different shots of LA.

This week we accomplished a lot. We finished the documentary in total which is amazing and really exciting. I learned this week how to make videos pleasing to the ears and eyes. To make the documentary engaging you have to crop all of the videos to edit out parts of the interview where the person talking maybe paused or said um. Cropping the interviews took a lot of time and to make sure it flows also took a lot of time. We had to rewatch a lot of different parts multiple times to also make sure audios matched up and that it flowed. There was a lot of talking from our Kyle interview around 30 minutes and we reduced this to half the amount. Reducing parts that we didn’t think were relevant or that didn’t make since and cutting it down to me the most clear and concise. Again this took most of our time. Then after we got this huge thing done we went to the music and aesthetics. So we found songs we liked for the intro and outro and then found music in the background of interviews and shots. This makes the documentary more interesting and compelling. I learned a lot this year and how to work imovie, I learned really great editing tools and how to make a film look good.

Overall reflecting on the week, I take a lot away from this project and the week overall. I learned a lot in the editing process which was the most important part of our project. It was really exciting to see the whole thing come together and it took a lot of time and energy. But it was all worth it because we created something really cool and we are really proud of it. Everything we learned about of sustainable fashion was accomplished through our documentary and we really gained a lot from this experience. I am really happy with what we created and what we learned through the process. It was a a trip to remember but I also learned a lot of knowledge on sustainable fashion and filming. In the future I think that I will definitely be interested in either of these as well.

Day 4

May 11 2023, 6:30pm         Today was the day we met with Santiago Marcos who is our mentor. We got up around 8am and went and walked to grab some coffee to start our day. We had our meeting at 1pm, so we had some time before to relax and draft some questions that we were curious about to ask. Then we headed over to our meeting to a restaurant/cafe called Zinc. At Zinc we sat down and got to talk to Santiago about our project, what it entails and how we can make it the best. Camila and I talked a lot about our ideas and what we have been thinking it should look like. Santiago gave us a lot of really great advice and gave us some documentary recommendations to watch to get some creative ideas from. He also gave us a lot of little tips for the audio, soundtrack and how to draw the audience into the documentary. It provided us a lot of insight and a lot of inspiration for our documentary. Our meeting was very exciting and helpful for our project. Furthermore...

Last day

May 23, 2023     It is the final and last day of senior project. Camila and I have put a lot of work into this documentary and we now have the final product. We worked on doing our voice overs today which was exciting and putting it in gave the personal touch of what we thought as the creators. Our product has came out so well and we have learned so much throughout this project. I am really happy I chose to do this project and to learn and create what we created. It took a lot of time and effort but the final product really shows everything we did and learned. The experiences that I had are priceless and I am going to forever carry on everything that I did. It was really important to learn about the sustainable fashion industry and to be in adult like situations and professional settings. I walk away on the last day with a new mindset and adventures behind me. Also with an incredible 20 minute documentary that we made to show the world what we did these past two weeks of...

Rainy day editing

May 20, 2023      Yet another day of editing and again it was very strenuous. Besides starting the day off with breakfast we started off with another morning editing session. To make this one as productive as possible we made sure to work together to get it done right. So we had about 13 minutes left of pure editing the Kyle interview. We decided to watch it together, make the cuts and keep making sure it flowed. It took a lot of time to edit this interview since he talks a lot and we want to make sure to keep the good content, but we also want to cut out all the parts where he repeated himself or said um. Cutting these out just makes the interview cleaner and also reduces the time. After this editing session we took a break since we had put a lot of time into it. We decided to go to New London quick and grab some food. Then we came back and started editing again. For the second session of the day we still had to finish the Kyle interview and which we did finish edi...
