What a week it has been. To introduce you to this week I will give you a little rundown. We started this week by traveling from across the country from LA all the back to Boston. Camila and I took a red eye which kind of messed up our sleep schedule. The prior week we had learned been really busy so the both of us were ready to relax and focus on putting the documentary together. Besides starting our week with traveling it was time for us to get creative and get ideas for what we wanted to do. We had a lot of great content from the prior week from our interviews and filming different shots of LA.
This week we accomplished a lot. We finished the documentary in total which is amazing and really exciting. I learned this week how to make videos pleasing to the ears and eyes. To make the documentary engaging you have to crop all of the videos to edit out parts of the interview where the person talking maybe paused or said um. Cropping the interviews took a lot of time and to make sure it flows also took a lot of time. We had to rewatch a lot of different parts multiple times to also make sure audios matched up and that it flowed. There was a lot of talking from our Kyle interview around 30 minutes and we reduced this to half the amount. Reducing parts that we didn’t think were relevant or that didn’t make since and cutting it down to me the most clear and concise. Again this took most of our time. Then after we got this huge thing done we went to the music and aesthetics. So we found songs we liked for the intro and outro and then found music in the background of interviews and shots. This makes the documentary more interesting and compelling. I learned a lot this year and how to work imovie, I learned really great editing tools and how to make a film look good.
Overall reflecting on the week, I take a lot away from this project and the week overall. I learned a lot in the editing process which was the most important part of our project. It was really exciting to see the whole thing come together and it took a lot of time and energy. But it was all worth it because we created something really cool and we are really proud of it. Everything we learned about of sustainable fashion was accomplished through our documentary and we really gained a lot from this experience. I am really happy with what we created and what we learned through the process. It was a a trip to remember but I also learned a lot of knowledge on sustainable fashion and filming. In the future I think that I will definitely be interested in either of these as well.
