Day 3 of senior project, May 10th, 2023
Wow, I had the most busy day of my life and I am happy to safe I feel like I accomplished a lot. After some rest from the long travel day, today was the day we had planned to meet for our first interview. Now this could seem like one thing for the whole day but yet this isn’t true. Our day was filled to the brim with endless activities that helped us broaden our perspective on sustainable fashion and even just the hustle of Los Angeles.
To start our day Camila and I headed to grab some coffee to wake us up after the long travel day before. At 12pm we had our meeting in a different part of Los Angeles with a woman who owned her own sustainable fashion brand. Between our coffee and meeting we had some time to drive around and get excited for the next few days. Then as we headed over to the meeting we learned about navigating the bustling city and made sure to provide plenty of time for our ride over. When we made it over we were greeted by Ella the girl who owned the brand. She gave us a warm welcoming and we went into her apartment to see her studio, which consisted of many pieces of clothing made out of dead stock fabric. Ella let us kindly video her for our documentary and provided us with the content that we feel was perfect. She said everything that we had researched or had known prior to and did an incredible job providing us with information. We left fulfilled as ever and ready to take on the rest of the day. We decided to stop at various of locations of LA like Sunset Blvd. for some lunch. We also went to Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica to make sure we got some shots for our video. We want this video to encapsulate LA and exemplify its role on fashion and especially sustainable fashion. After we had captured a lot of videos for our project we decided to head to the beach to soak up some sun and to keep planning ahead for the next days. Our next big plan is to meet with our Mentor Santiago tomorrow. And also to head into some thrift and vintage shops to talk to more people about their input and role on sustainable fashion. I am exhausted right now as Camila and I have spent the day doing absolutely everything everywhere and we are looking forward to the next day. We are learning so much just from this one day and are thrilled to keep learning more. I feel as this experience is preparing me for a lot and teaching me the importance of sustainability.
